Phone Believed to Be Celine Cremer’s Found in Renewed Tasmania Search

Police will conduct forensic examination of the device to evaluate potential evidence.

Overview

  • A privately organised five-day effort led by investigator Ken Gamble brought four friends from Belgium and volunteers back to the Philosopher Falls area near Waratah.
  • Volunteer Tony Hage reported finding a mauve Samsung handset that searchers said matched Cremer’s serial number and was recognised by her friends.
  • The phone was located about 60 metres from her last recorded coordinates, according to the finders.
  • Tasmania Police said officers attended the scene, the phone will undergo forensic analysis, and a police search controller is coordinating with the private team.
  • Organisers set up a base at the Waratah Men’s Shed with local support for food and logistics, and members of the public were asked not to join the search.
