Phoenix Stages Inaugural City Marathon With 7,000+ Runners

City officials now plan to pursue Boston-qualifying certification to make the race a yearly fixture.

Overview

  • Jake Heslington of Utah won the full marathon in 2:19:29, with JJ Santana and Luke Francis completing the men’s podium.
  • Tiaree Towler captured the women’s marathon in 2:45:23, followed by Shanna Birchett and Jessalyn Sadler.
  • Caroline Garrett won the women’s half marathon in 1:17:13, Jackson Siddall topped the men’s half in 1:03:15, and Milo Greder claimed the 10K in just under 30 minutes.
  • The 26.2-mile route began at Deer Valley, followed the Arizona Canal Trail through the Camelback/Biltmore area, and finished at Phoenix Municipal Stadium near Papago Park.
  • The weekend featured a Health & Lifestyle Expo and three race distances, drawing participants from all 50 states and more than a dozen countries.
