Phoenix Launches $2 PHXLink Microtransit Pilot

The city will run a three-year, federally funded experiment to gather ridership and operational data that could determine whether the service expands.

Overview

  • The city put PHXLink into operation on Monday, October 26, deploying pilot service in three small zones in the north, south and west parts of Phoenix.
  • Each zone opened with five small vans, including one wheelchair-accessible vehicle, and the program charges a $2 flat fare per shared trip.
  • Riders can book through the Android app, the PHXLink website, or by calling 623-281-3479 for live-agent booking and alerts.
  • PHXLink uses virtual stops with curb-to-curb pickups only for ADA-certified riders, aims for 15–30 minute pickup windows, and runs daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • The pilot is meant to feed existing Valley Metro transit centers, light rail and RAPID routes and any expansion would depend on analysis of pilot data and new funding beyond the federal grant.
