Phoenix Driver Arrested in 2023 Rideshare Crash, Charged With Manslaughter

Court records set an Oct. 8 hearing following a two-year gap between the crash and the arrest.

Overview

  • Police say 21-year-old Bella Marie Bonanno was booked on Sept. 30 on reckless manslaughter, aggravated assault and three counts of endangerment.
  • Arrest documents allege she ran a red light at Tatum and Shea while speeding about 69 mph in a 45 mph zone before the collision.
  • The crash fatally injured 28-year-old rideshare passenger Alec Carbine, who was taken to a hospital and later died.
  • The rideshare driver had minor injuries, and three passengers in Bonanno’s car were also hurt; police reported no signs of impairment at the scene.
  • Bonanno is jailed on a $100,000 bond, and it remains unclear why the arrest occurred roughly two years after the crash.
