• The phishing messages feature generic greetings, outdated T-Online branding and a fake Berlin address to create a sense of urgency and legitimacy.
• T-Online has been independent of Deutsche Telekom since 2015 and the company never requests IBAN updates via unsolicited email.
• Verbraucherzentrale NRW advises recipients to delete these emails immediately, refrain from clicking on embedded links and mark them as spam.
• Authentic Telekom notifications arrive exclusively through the MeinMagenta app, official Telekom domains or SMS rather than through unsolicited emails.
