Overview

  • On June 19 the Phillies transferred right-hander Aaron Nola to the 60-day injured list after he suffered a stress fracture in his right rib while rehabbing an ankle sprain.
  • The move clears a 40-man roster spot and rules Nola out until at least July 14, the earliest date he can return to the active roster.
  • Philadelphia recalled infielder Buddy Kennedy from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to fill the vacancy on its 40-man roster.
  • Kennedy has hit .283/.388/.447 with eight home runs and 20 extra-base hits in 61 games this season and added outfield work to his offseason training.
  • To make room for Kennedy, outfielder Weston Wilson—who batted .194/.310/.278 in 42 plate appearances, primarily against left-handed pitching—was optioned back to Lehigh Valley.
