Philips Hue Unveils Bridge Pro, MotionAware, and Budget Essentials at IFA 2025

The refresh centers on a faster Bridge Pro that turns existing Zigbee lights into motion sensors.

Overview

  • The new Bridge Pro costs $89.99, supports 150 lights and 50 accessories, adds Wi‑Fi for placement away from the router, and offers an app-based migration tool with multi-bridge merging promised later this year.
  • Hue MotionAware is now official, using RF sensing over Zigbee to detect movement with at least three lights per room and up to four zones per bridge, working with about 95% of mains‑powered Hue lights made since 2014 with local processing on the hub.
  • A lower-cost Essentials lineup launches with A19, BR30, GU10, and light strips starting at $24.99 (or $60 for a four‑pack of A19s) and supports Matter‑over‑Thread, though advanced Hue features still require a bridge.
  • Hue revamps light strips with the OmniGlow’s uniform glow up to 4,500 lumens and a cheaper Flux range for indoor and outdoor use, with most models rolling out between now and early next year.
  • Hue Secure expands with the first video doorbell featuring two‑way talk, motion and package detection, integration with lighting and a new plug‑in chime, alongside refreshed cameras and staggered availability from this month into October.
