Philippine Air Force Expands Fleet With Five New S-70i Black Hawks

Part of a 32-unit, PHP32 billion deal with Poland’s PZL Mielec, the helicopters completed stringent technical inspections before assignment to the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing.

Overview

  • The five S-70i Black Hawks arrived on July 15 and were formally accepted on August 13 during a ceremony led by Lt. Gen. Arthur M. Cordura at Clark Air Base in Pampanga.
  • Each aircraft passed the Department of National Defense, Armed Forces of the Philippines and Air Force Technical Inspection and Acceptance procedures to verify compliance with operational standards.
  • Assigned to the Air Mobility Command’s 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing, the helicopters will support humanitarian assistance, disaster response, troop transport and cargo missions across the archipelago.
  • These latest deliveries represent the third batch under a PHP32 billion direct contract for 32 S-70i units with Poland’s PZL Mielec.
  • Previous installments under the same program included five helicopters delivered in June 2024 and another five in December 2024, complementing 16 units received from 2020 to 2021.
