Philadelphia Teen Gets 3.5 to 10 Years for 130 MPH Stolen-Car Chase in Lancaster County

The sentence follows a guilty plea to multiple felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from the 2024 pursuit.

Overview

  • Judge Jeffrey Conrad imposed a state prison term of three and a half to 10 years, plus one year of concurrent probation and $275 in traffic fines.
  • Wright pleaded guilty on Oct. 7 to aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment and related offenses.
  • Prosecutors said the nine-mile chase began May 9, 2024, after a trooper observed erratic driving on Lincoln Highway near Brackbill Road in Salisbury Township, with speeds reaching about 130 mph through an active work zone where five workers were nearly hit.
  • Police reported Wright repeatedly drove into oncoming lanes, nearly caused a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer and almost struck two troopers after a failed spike-strip attempt near an East Lampeter Township intersection.
  • The chase ended when the stolen car crashed on the 2400 block of Lincoln Highway East; officers used force to arrest Wright after he refused commands, and he later told police he had stolen the vehicle the day before.
