Overview
- The incident occurred around 11 p.m. Thursday outside King Laundromat on the 6700 block of Castor Avenue in Oxford Circle, where a car was left running with four children inside.
- Police say a young person took the parked Honda CR-V in what they believe was a crime of opportunity and drove roughly a half mile to Castor Avenue and Comly Street.
- The vehicle sideswiped a parked vehicle at that intersection before the driver apparently noticed the children and ran off on foot.
- Witnesses described the suspect as about 13 to 14 years old, dressed in dark clothing, and running westbound on Comly Street.
- All four children — ages 2 months, 2, 10, and 13 — were found unharmed and reunited with their mother, and the search for the suspect remains active.
