Philadelphia Police Officer Shot in Hand During Warrant Service

Second officer shooting in less than a week prompts concern over city's gun violence.

A Philadelphia police officer was shot in the hand while serving a search warrant early Wednesday morning. The bullet ricocheted off his ballistic vest and into his hand.
The officer, a 33-year veteran of the force, was treated at a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
The shooting occurred at a residence on Kings Place in the north of the city. A man has been detained in connection with the shooting.
This is the second shooting of a Philadelphia police officer in less than a week. The previous officer was shot in the leg during an incident at a corner store on Friday night.
Mayor Cherelle Parker expressed concern over the recurring incidents of gun violence in the city and vowed to work towards making the city a safe place.
