Philadelphia Park Ranger Stabbing Classified as Hate Crime

Suspect faces multiple charges, including ethnic intimidation and attempted murder, after attacking ranger with scissors.

Thomas Riceman, 34, allegedly attacked a park ranger in Rittenhouse Square, shouting ethnic slurs.
The ranger, a 40-year-old Latino man, was stabbed in the face and head but managed to detain Riceman.
Riceman has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and ethnic intimidation.
The ranger was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries and released from the hospital.
Riceman is being held on $1 million bail and is represented by the public defender’s office.
