Overview
- Police named the suspect as 22‑year‑old Zymire Hughes and said an active arrest warrant has been issued while they work with the U.S. Marshals to locate him.
- Surveillance video shows a masked man running up to and harassing multiple people near City Hall during a roughly 15–20 minute span on Aug. 12, including chasing a 40‑year‑old jogger who says he asked, “Are you ready to die?”
- Investigators say the suspect wore a white 'Chucky'‑style mask, carried a blue‑and‑black plaid backpack, and apparently filmed the encounters on a cellphone, leading police to seek more social‑media and surveillance footage to clarify motive and the number of victims.
- Authorities have described possible charges that prosecutors will pursue once he is arrested, including terroristic threats, harassment, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and intimidation.
- Police urge anyone with information or additional video to call the department tip line and warn the public not to approach Hughes, who officials say may have left Pennsylvania and has ties to California and Nevada.
