Philadelphia Daycare Workers Charged Over Neglect Incident

Three employees face charges after leaving a baby alone in a closed facility, sparking a police and firefighter rescue operation.

Three daycare workers in Philadelphia have been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and conspiracy after a 7-month-old girl was left alone in a dark, closed day care center.
The incident occurred on February 1st, but the charges were announced nearly two months later.
The parents arrived to pick up their daughter to find the facility locked, leading to police and firefighters forcibly entering to rescue the child.
The child was found alone, asleep in a car seat, and despite being dehydrated, did not suffer any injuries.
The three charged employees are Gabriela Rivas, Sydia Thomas-Ishman, and Janae Smith; two were released on bond while one posted bail.
