Overview
- Philadelphia officials said DNA identified the remains found behind the vacant Ada H. H. Lewis Middle School as those of Kada Scott, and the Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide.
- Prosecutors filed a new slate of counts against Keon King, including murder, robbery, theft, firearms violations, tampering with evidence, abuse of corpse, conspiracy and obstruction of justice.
- King had already faced arson and related charges tied to a stolen Hyundai Accent that investigators say was used to move Scott and later set on fire.
- Court records and police say cellphone data and surveillance place King at key locations; video shows two people removing a heavy object from a Hyundai at the Awbury Recreation Center near where Scott was buried.
- Detectives believe at least one other person helped move and bury the body and are investigating anonymous tips that led them back to the site, as prosecutors refile previously dropped kidnapping and strangulation charges from an earlier case.
