Philadelphia Cyclist Arrested for Series of Knife Attacks on Park Trail

Elias Diaz, 46, was arrested on Sunday and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and related offenses in connection with a series of knife attacks on the Pennypack Park Trail in Philadelphia.
The first attack occurred on Nov. 22 when a jogger was slashed multiple times in the hands and arms by Diaz, who was riding a bicycle and brandishing a machete.
Two days later, another person was attacked while walking on the trail, sustaining lacerations to the right arm and hands.
On Nov. 25, a man riding a BMX-style bicycle became verbally aggressive with someone on the trail, but the person was able to leave unharmed.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the attacks.
