Neville, previously of Inter Miami, managed the club for over two seasons and, despite the team's poor performance, led it to the 2022 playoffs until an abrupt dismissal earlier this year.
During his tenure at Miami, he navigated the franchise through several challenges, such as extensive player injuries and league-sanctioned penalties like budget reductions for violating roster rules in 2020.
After parting ways with former coach Gio Savarese, the Timbers barely missed the playoffs under interim coach Miles Joseph, creating the need for a new coach to aid a forthcoming squad overhaul.
Neville boasts former management experience with the England women's national team, leading the team to the 2019 World Cup semifinals, and a successful player career with Manchester United and Everton.
