Phase One of Uttarakhand Panchayat Elections Records 68% Turnout

  • Final turnout in the first phase reached 68%, with 63% of men and 73% of women casting ballots, according to the state election commission.
  • More than 26 lakh voters were eligible to elect officials across 12 districts (excluding Haridwar) for Gram, kshetra and district panchayat posts.
  • Over 17,800 candidates contested 948 Gram Panchayat seats, 3,393 Pradhan Gram Panchayat posts, 1,507 kshetra panchayat positions and 201 district panchayat seats.
  • State authorities deployed 1,240 polling personnel and implemented stringent security measures to ensure orderly voting despite persistent monsoon rains.
  • The second polling phase is scheduled for July 28, with vote counting set to begin on July 31 after completion of the two-stage process.
