PGTI Launches '72 The League' Franchise Golf Competition For February–March 2026

Players who joined the IGPL will be eligible, signalling a softer stance by the tour.

Overview

  • Six city franchises will draft 60 PGTI-registered professionals, with squads of 10 chosen at a January 2026 player auction.
  • The inaugural season will be hosted across three Delhi-NCR venues — Classic Golf & Country Club, Jaypee Greens and Qutab Golf Course.
  • A match-play format will anchor the league, with Pro-Am events, immersive fan zones, live entertainment and expanded broadcast and digital coverage.
  • PGTI leaders say franchises may select experienced lower-ranked players as mentors to accelerate development for younger pros and broaden career pathways.
  • The tour named Game of Life Sports as operating partner, appointed veteran administrator Amrit Mathur as commissioner and enlisted advisors Amitabh Kant and Joy Bhattacharjya, after earlier show-cause notices over the IGPL led to player court petitions.
