PGIMER Chandigarh Wins Third Best ROTTO Award and Best Brain Stem Death Declaration Team

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda presented the awards at the 15th Indian Organ Donation Day, underscoring PGIMER’s role as ROTTO for northern India through its rigorous donor management protocols.

  • PGIMER Chandigarh won the Best ROTTO Award for northern India for the third time since the award’s launch in 2019, securing a second consecutive victory after last year.
  • The institute also received the Best Brain Stem Death Declaration Team award for transparent, timely and ethically sound protocols in donor identification and management.
  • Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda presented the honours during the 15th Indian Organ Donation Day at Dr B.R. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi under the auspices of NOTTO.
  • A delegation led by Director Prof Vivek Lal, along with Deputy Director Pankaj Rai, Medical Superintendent Vipin Koushal and Consultant Saryu D. Madra, accepted the awards on behalf of PGIMER.
  • Since its 2015 designation as the ROTTO hub for Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, PGIMER has overseen cadaver donation coordination across northern India.
