Overview
- PG&E, which announced the expansion Monday, opened enrollment through June 30, 2027 and said 51 customers were participating as of the end of July.
- The utility added new eligible models including the Chevy Bolt EV, Cadillac Celestiq and Escalade IQL, Nissan Leaf (2018–2025), Volvo EX90, Polestar 3 and Kia EV9 and EV6.
- PG&E listed compatible chargers and partners such as dcbel, Wallbox, Bidirectional Energy and PowerFlex to link vehicles to homes and the grid.
- Residential participants can get up to $2,500 for installations plus a $1,500 early-adopter bonus for the first 250 sign-ups and higher amounts for customers and businesses in disadvantaged communities.
- PG&E says V2X can provide home backup power, lower bills and help manage peak demand, but the program remains small and technically complex because it needs certified bidirectional chargers, vehicle support and coordinating software.
