Overview
- The three four-hour lithium-ion facilities add 1.9 GWh of storage capacity to PGE’s system.
- They can power approximately 300,000 homes for four hours during peak demand or unexpected outages.
- Seaside began commercial operation in July 2025, joining Sundial and Constable, which came online in December 2024 under PGE’s 2021 all-source RFP.
- Including Coffee Creek’s 17 MW storage commissioned in 2024, PGE’s total large-scale battery capacity now stands at 492 MW.
- Integrated at substations in North Portland, Troutdale and Hillsboro, the batteries reduce reliance on short-term power purchases and help balance wind and solar output.
