PGA Tour Secures $1.5B Investment from Strategic Sports Group

Players to Gain Equity in PGA Tour Enterprises, Jordan Spieth Says PIF Deal Not Necessary

Jordan Spieth, a professional golfer and part of the PGA Tour's player policy board, has stated that a deal with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) is not necessary following a new partnership with Strategic Sports Group (SSG).
The SSG, a consortium of U.S.-based sports franchise owners, has made an initial $1.5 billion investment to become a minority owner of PGA Tour Enterprises, a new company under the PGA Tour’s control.
PGA Tour players will collectively have access to $1.5 billion in equity shares of the new company, with the amount for individual players determined by career accomplishments, recent success and tour membership status.
SSG's investors include owners of some of the most historic franchises in North American pro sports and the English Premier League, such as John Henry of Fenway Sports Group, Mark Attanasio of the Milwaukee Brewers, Arthur Blank of the Atlanta Falcons, Steve Cohen of the New York Mets, and Wyc Grousbeck of the Boston Celtics.
Despite the SSG deal, there is still uncertainty among players regarding how the equity will be disbursed and what a potential PIF deal could mean for the return or reintegration of LIV players.
