PGA Champion Justin Thomas Joins Atlanta Team in TGL League, Annika Sorenstam Becomes Augusta Member
The TGL League, developed by TMRW Sports and starting in January, features high-end owners like Arthur Blank of the Atlanta Falcons; Annika Sorenstam joins Augusta National, marking continued inclusion efforts since first women members were invited in 2012.
- Two-time PGA champion Justin Thomas is the first player to join the Atlanta Drive Golf Club, one of the six teams in the new TGL League, starting January. The league will be shown on ESPN and involves head-to-head matches in a South Florida arena, some of which will use a high-tech simulator.
- The TGL League was developed by TMRW Sports, owned by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, and already has a full roster of 24 players. Twelve of these players have won majors and six have reached No. 1 in the world.
- Teams in the TGL League have high-profile owners, in Atlanta's case, Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons. Other teams are located in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, with the location of the sixth team yet to be announced.
- Annika Sorenstam, a prominent figure in women's golf, has become a member at Augusta National. Chairman Fred Ridley expressed his excitement about her joining, noting that having female members has improved the club.
- Augusta National did not start inviting women to become members until 2012, with Sorenstam being the most recent invitation following previous members like Condoleezza Rice and Darla Moore.
