Petrol Falls While Diesel Rises Under Pakistan’s Daily Pump Pricing

Regulators said international benchmark moves and higher import costs drove the adjustments, leaving domestic levies and margins unchanged.

Overview

  • The government cut petrol to Rs377.71 per litre and raised high-speed diesel to Rs393.66 per litre after two successive reviews that left petrol unchanged for the latest three-day period.
  • Diesel has risen in back-to-back revisions, increasing by a total of Rs3.55 after an initial Rs1.64 hike was followed by a further Rs1.91 adjustment.
  • Officials and OGRA attributed the changes to shifts in Platts benchmarks, premiums, incidentals, import costs and a narrowing HSD crack spread that altered refined-price calculations.
  • Domestic levies and margins were not changed; both fuels carry a Petroleum Levy of Rs80 and a Climate Support Levy of Rs5 while dealer and OMC margins remain at Rs9.98 and Rs7.87 per litre.
  • The daily pricing mechanism, introduced in mid-2026 to link pump rates to international quotations, means petrol users have seen relief from mid-October cuts while diesel consumers now face higher costs as global crude rose after attacks targeting Saudi facilities.
