Petrobras Starts P-78 at Búzios, Lifting Output Capacity and Enabling Rota 3 Gas Flow

Petrobras frames P-78 as the first in a new platform generation focused on efficiency, lower emissions, local participation.

Overview

  • The FPSO began producing on December 31, 2025 as part of the Búzios 6 project, the field’s seventh operating system.
  • The unit is designed for up to 180,000 barrels of oil per day and 7.2 million cubic meters of gas per day.
  • Installed capacity at Búzios rises to about 1.15 million barrels per day with P-78 online, according to the company.
  • Part of the gas will be exported to shore via interconnection with the Rota 3 pipeline, which Petrobras says could add up to 3 million m³ per day to national supply.
  • Petrobras cites advanced commissioning during the transit from Singapore, 13 wells with intelligent completions, and a minimum 25% local content with BrasFELS-built modules.
