Petrobras Opens Tender for P-91 Búzios Platform to Expand Brazil’s Gas Supply

The company says the unit is viable at $45 oil, targeting startup after 2030 with peak output in 2033.

Overview

  • Petrobras published the solicitation for proposals with a 180‑day bid window and a minimum 25% local‑content requirement under a build‑operate‑transfer contracting model.
  • P‑91 (Búzios 12) will connect 16 wells and is designed for 180,000 barrels of oil per day and 12 million cubic meters per day of gas, routing gas to the Boaventura Complex via the Rota 3 pipeline.
  • The platform will function as a gas hub able to process output from nearby units not built for export, and it is forecast to send about 5.5 million cubic meters per day to shore through Rota 3.
  • Petrobras will operate the project with an 88.99% stake alongside minority partners CNPC at 3.67% and CNOOC at 7.34%.
  • To ease supplier constraints, the company identified a turbogenerator model produced in the interior of São Paulo to avoid competition from orders linked to data centers.
