Petrobras Makes First Delivery of Brazil-Made Sustainable Aviation Fuel

The 3,000 m³ ISCC-CORSIA-certified batch produced at Reduc by coprocessing signals readiness for upcoming SAF mandates.

Overview

  • Petrobras sold the initial volume to distributors serving Rio de Janeiro’s Galeão/Tom Jobim airport, a quantity roughly equal to one day of the state’s airport consumption.
  • The fuel was produced at the Duque de Caxias refinery under ANP authorization that allows up to 1.2% renewable feedstock in the current coprocessing route.
  • The product is a drop-in equivalent to conventional jet kerosene, so airlines and fuel infrastructure require no modifications to use it.
  • The shipment carries ISCC-CORSIA sustainability and traceability certification, and Petrobras says the renewable fraction can cut net CO₂ emissions by up to 87%.
  • Petrobras completed tests at Revap and aims for commercial production at Replan and Regap in 2026 as Brazil moves toward required SAF use on international flights from 2027 and phased domestic obligations under the Lei do Combustível do Futuro.
