Overview
- On April 26, Catalin Ganciu approached and kicked a six-year-old girl in the head on Lincoln Road in Millfield, Peterborough, knocking her to the ground.
- He then followed a woman who offered to fetch him water into a shop and punched her in the face, causing minor injuries.
- When officers moved to arrest him, Ganciu punched one in the stomach and repeatedly kicked the interior of a police van, inflicting damage.
- At Cambridge Crown Court on July 16, he pleaded guilty to two counts of actual bodily harm, one count of assault on an emergency worker and one count of criminal damage.
- Investigating officer DC Hannah Cooke described the unprovoked attacks as horrific and warned that Ganciu’s actions will have a lasting impact on victims and community safety.
