Peter Bendix Hired as Miami Marlins' President of Baseball Operations

The Miami Marlins have announced the hiring of Peter Bendix as their new President of Baseball Operations. Bendix spent the past 15 years with the Tampa Bay Rays, where his contributions led to three division titles and eight playoff appearances.
Bendix takes over from former Marlins' general manager Kim Ng. Ng made history as the first female general manager of a men's team in major U.S. sports and helped the Marlins improve from 67 wins in 2021 to 84 wins and a playoff appearance in 2023.
During his tenure with the Rays, Bendix held several roles, such as assistant of baseball operations, coordinator of baseball research and development, and director of baseball development, before being promoted to the general manager and senior vice president of baseball operations.
Bendix's hiring comes as part of the Marlins' strategic aim to replicate the success of the Tampa Bay Rays. Despite a payroll that consistently ranks lower than most MLB teams, the Rays have been successful, showing strength in drafting, player development, and player acquisition.
Marlins' manager Skip Schumaker has expressed his enthusiasm about working with Bendix and is optimistic about the team's prospects for achieving sustained excellence in Baseball Operations.
