Overview
- Detectives detained Darwin Alejandro Vega Páez, 33, during a Dec. 29 Dirincri operation at an apartment in Chorrillos led by General Víctor Revoredo.
- Police also arrested his alleged bodyguard Yohan Monsalve Meléndez, 18, along with Emir Yegres, 23, and Peruvian national Cirilo Velásquez, 66, in related raids.
- Seizures included 20 vials of ketamine, sticks of dynamite, 56 rifle rounds, military-style caps, multiple watches, bank cards, vouchers and financial documents.
- Authorities say the faction extorted roughly 25 businesses across transport, construction and services, generating about half a million soles in five months with daily takes of S/5,000–S/7,000.
- Hours before the capture, the group sent an explosive threat to the Machu Picchu transport company, and investigators link it to shootings at the Pirámide brickyard that killed Carlos Flores and Hodar Olarte and wounded a manager.
