- The Comando Conjunto and VRAEM special forces carried out Operativo Quiñones after weeks of intelligence work and engaged a rebel column in Sector Hamaca, Vizcatán del Ene, on Wednesday, July 29, resulting in the confirmed death of Jhonny Curo Rojas, alias 'Camarada Richard'.
- A Peruvian army non-commissioned officer, José Parinango Huamán, was wounded during the clash and is reported in stable condition after evacuation for specialized care.
