Peru’s Stalled Public Works Reach 2,428 as New Regional Tallies Spotlight Piura, Ucayali and Loreto

Regional governments shoulder the largest financial exposure, with disputes and contract breaches frequently cited as causes.

  • As of June 2025, Peru logged 2,428 halted public projects with S/ 44,298 million committed, according to Contraloría data compiled by ComexPerú.
  • Piura ranks fourth by committed amount at S/ 3,928 million with 128 projects paused, led by S/ 2,701 million at the national level within the region.
  • Ucayali places ninth with S/ 1,399 million and 32 works suspended, including the Pucallpa penitentiary overhaul and upgrades to the Yarinacocha distribution circuit.
