Peru’s RENIEC, Municipalities Offer Free DNIe Drives Nov. 17–18 Across Loreto, Junín and Apurímac

The outreach prioritizes vulnerable residents to expand access to Peru’s secure biometric ID for digital public services.

Overview

  • Residents can obtain a DNI electrónico for the first time, renew expired or lost documents, or request duplicates during the two-day drives.
  • Lagunas (Alto Amazonas, Loreto) will open service on Nov. 17 at 8:30 a.m. at the municipal palace with limited slots, so attendees are advised to arrive early.
  • Huaripampa (Jauja, Junín) will start at 9:00 a.m. at the municipal auditorium, serving minors, people over 60, people with disabilities, and those classified in extreme poverty by SISFOH.
  • Maras (Cotabambas, Apurímac) will run Nov. 17–18 to convert conventional blue/yellow DNI to the electronic format at no cost for minors, older adults, and adults 18–59 registered in SISFOH as poor or extremely poor.
  • RENIEC is coordinating with local governments to bring services to urban, rural and peripheral areas, underscoring DNIe benefits such as biometric security and enabling online transactions and electronic signatures.
