Peru’s ONPE Sets Dec. 14 Cutoff to Choose Polling Place, Outlines 2026 Voting for Police and Military

The agency will close the portal at 11:59 p.m. Sunday to consolidate selections for final assignment in March.

Overview

  • ONPE reports 2,364,054 voters have already registered their preferred polling locations, with Lima leading the sign-ups.
  • Voters can select up to three preferred sites on the 24/7 platform, which offers identity verification and accessibility features in Spanish, Quechua and Aymara.
  • If no selection is made, ONPE will assign a site based on availability, and 73 locations have already reached capacity.
  • Active-duty police and military will be enabled to vote near their duty posts with expedited voting when uniformed and identified, a benefit also extended to other essential personnel.
  • Under Law No. 32166, security forces on duty may vote only in national races, and Interior and Defense must provide ONPE with rosters of deployed personnel; a digital voting pilot remains under consideration.
