Peru’s JNJ Names 308 Magistrates After 2025 Merit Contests

The publicly run evaluations, spanning exams, case studies and weeks of interviews, are intended to bolster capacity and curb provisional postings across the justice system.

Overview

  • The appointments comprise 82 judges for the Judiciary, 196 prosecutors for the Public Ministry, and 30 control judges for the Judiciary’s oversight authority.
  • Judicial posts were allocated through Convocatorias No. 002 (17), 004 Group 1 (24), and 006 (41) under both open access and promotion tracks.
  • Prosecutors were selected via Convocatorias No. 003, 005 and 007 to reinforce investigative capacity across regions.
  • Thirty control judges, at superior and specialized levels, were chosen under Convocatoria No. 008-2025-SN/JNJ for the National Judicial Control Authority.
  • The JNJ plenary assessed candidates after more than 30 days of interviews and stated the appointees will receive official titles to begin their functions.
