Peru Vote Count Continues as ONPE Plans December Runoffs

Final results rest with JEE and JNE review of observed actas.

Overview

  • The elections held on October 4 triggered an ongoing national count by ONPE with the Lima mayoralty showing a narrow provisional lead for Rafael López Aliaga at about 27.77% versus Francis Alisson at about 26.84% with roughly 95.06% of actas processed.
  • ONPE approved a Second Election plan that projects second rounds in about 15 regions on December 6 and estimates 12,474,107 electors would return to vote, with logistics and a budget of more than S/109 million outlined for the process.
  • Several local tallies have reached 100%: ONPE confirmed Ciro Trinidad Rojas as Huamalíes provincial mayor and published final results for four Lima districts (Barranco, Punta Negra, San Bartolo and Santa María del Mar) and La Punta in Callao.
  • The ODPE in Tacna completed its count and found no candidate above the 30% threshold for governor, so Mario Ruiz and Walter Anchapuri will face a December 6 runoff under the regional-election rule that mandates a second round when no list reaches 30%.
  • About 1,300 observed actas have been sent to Jurados Electorales Especiales for verification or recounts and formal proclamations remain pending at the Jurado Nacional de Elecciones, after which winners would receive credentials to take office on January 1, 2027.
