Peru to Close 2026 Voter Roll on Oct. 14 as RENIEC Extends Hours to Midnight

The initial list will be sent to the JNE by October 24 for auditing and cleanup before the definitive register is published.

Overview

  • RENIEC will keep 33 offices open nationwide until 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 14, with Lima service at Cercado, Miraflores, San Juan de Miraflores, Independencia, Jesús María and San Borja.
  • Eligible transactions include DNI renewal for expired documents, address updates, upgrading a minor’s DNI to an adult DNIe and document pick-up.
  • Updates made after the cutoff will not appear in the voter roll, which could leave voters assigned to previous districts or complicate identification at polling places.
  • RENIEC reports 27,374,211 people on the roll, including 2,190,831 with expired DNIs and over 109,000 adults still holding a minor’s DNI photo.
  • The JNE reaffirmed that Oct. 13 is the resignation deadline for authorities who plan to run in 2026, as set by Resolution 0110-2025-JNE.
