Peru Steps Up Final Preparations for Oct. 4 Regional and Municipal Vote

Officials say this preparation will ensure staffed and equipped polling stations, plus informed voters, ahead of the October 4 vote.

Overview

  • ONPE ran a nationwide in-person training for selected polling‑station members on Sunday, Sept. 20, with about 142,136 participants reported by early afternoon and a second session set for Sept. 27.
  • Local ODPE offices have published the official 'cartel de candidatos' in public spaces as required 15 days before the vote to help voters identify parties and candidates.
  • Electoral materials have left ONPE’s Lurín warehouses for regional ODPEs, with vehicles bound for regions such as Cusco, Ayacucho, Apurímac, La Libertad, Junín, Cajamarca, Tumbes and Piura and trips expected to take two to three days.
  • The operation covers 89,935 polling tables and more than 26 million eligible voters, uses a DNI lookup and ONPEduca resources for member‑of‑mesa verification and training, and offers S/165 for service with a S/275 fine for noncompliance.
  • Local logistics continue to shift: ODPE Ica reassigned a Subtanjalla voting site for 2,100 electors and the ONPE is urging citizens to check the official consultaelectoral.onpe.gob.pe platform for their updated voting location and mesa assignment.
