Peru Sets Oct. 4, 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections Following Presidential Decree

The call ensures a timely transition before current subnational mandates end on December 31, 2026.

Overview

  • President José Jeri convened the vote via Supreme Decree No. 001-2026-PCM published in El Peruano.
  • The election will renew governors, vice-governors, regional councilors, and provincial and district mayors and councilors for the 2027–2030 term.
  • The JNE approved the official timetable, with alliance registrations due January 17 and parties reporting primary modalities to ONPE by February 16.
  • RENIEC will close the voter registry on April 7, primaries will be held on May 17 and 24, and results may be proclaimed by June 1.
  • Candidate lists must be filed by June 16, the member-of-table draw is set for July 26, and admitted lists must be published by August 5.
