Peru Sets Oct. 14 Cutoff for 2026 Voter Roll as RENIEC Accelerates DNIe 3.0 Drive

Citizens are urged to renew or correct their IDs before the deadline because changes made afterward will not appear on the official roll.

Overview

  • RENIEC’s sixth and final simulacrum shows 27,374,211 eligible voters if the electoral roll closed today, with 26,181,809 in Peru and 1,192,402 abroad.
  • The simulacrum flags 2,190,831 expired DNIs and 109,062 adults still holding minor-age IDs, a combination that could complicate voter identification.
  • Targeted free DNIe 3.0 campaigns are set for Maynas on Oct. 3 and for Chorrillos and Jaén on Oct. 4, prioritizing minors, older adults and low-income residents.
  • To speed updates, RENIEC extended office hours up to 12 hours in select agencies, opened some weekend service, enabled virtual procedures for DNIe holders, and kept promotional fees at S/30 for adults and S/16 for minors through Dec. 31.
  • Operations face localized disruptions, including the Oct. 2 closure of the Ancash registral office due to a transport strike, while RENIEC also deploys mobile and overseas brigades to reach pending cases.
