Peru Security Sweep Dismantles Three Gangs in Lima Sur, 59 Arrested Across Lima and Junín

Police vow continued territorial operations under the emergency order.

  • In San Juan de Miraflores, the PNP deployed 300 officers with support from 20 Army personnel under the current emergency order.
  • The Lima sweep seized 6,250 drug packets, 237 phones, a firearm, six motorcycles, 80 SIM chips and multiple electronic devices.
  • Police dismantled Los Piratas de Chorrillos, Los Eléctricos del Centro and Los Rápidos de Saga, detaining suspects including Eduardo Hernández “Tuerto” and Sebastián Álvarez “Orejas”.
  • In Junín overnight, officers detained 39 people, including 20 for drunk driving and eight with arrest warrants, recovered six vehicles and broke up two gangs in Chanchamayo and Huancayo.
  • Three Colombian nationals and one Venezuelan were held in Orcotuna on extortion complaints, and officials urged residents to report extortion as operations continue.
