Overview
- Indeci will run the III Simulacro Nacional Multipeliglo nationwide at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 to rehearse responses to earthquakes, heavy rains, floods and other local hazards.
- The drill starts with audible alerts from sirens, bells and phones; participants must stay two minutes in a safe spot and then evacuate in an orderly way to external safe areas or vertical evacuation points if a tsunami alert is issued.
- Yanahuara authorities have mapped local routes and named Parque San Agustín and Calle Los Gladiolos as external safe spaces after two lahar incursions from the torrentera Chullo in February 2026, and Mayor Sergio Bolliger Marroquín urged serious participation.
- Indeci is promoting the I-U-E-A-O family plan—identify hazards, locate safe zones, elaborate maps and emergency kits, assign responsibilities and organize with neighbors—and will send official warnings through the SISMATE cellphone alert system.
- Officials say the exercise aims to reveal coordination gaps among authorities and the public so plans can be corrected, and widespread participation could change how communities prepare and use evacuation routes in future emergencies.
