Overview
- The Ministry of Education told regional and local education offices it will place 10,728 public and private schools at the exclusive disposal of the National Office of Electoral Processes for the October 4 regional and municipal vote.
- Those schools must be handed to ONPE from 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2 until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, and school directors must verify that classrooms are returned in the same condition once the process ends.
- ONPE confirmed it has reallocated 17 voting locations because of deteriorated infrastructure, construction work, flood risk and other hazards and said the changes aim to improve operability and safety on election day.
- Voting is scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 4 and polling‑station members must arrive around 6:00 a.m. to install tables; voters should check ONPE’s online platform for their assigned center, table number and map before going to vote.
- The elections will choose 13,148 local and regional authorities nationwide, and education authorities must plan in‑person recovery of missed class hours and other measures to keep the school year on track.
