Peru Raises Teacher Pay for 430,000 Educators as November RIM Floor Hits S/3,500

The ministry says the pay plan aims to improve teacher retention to raise classroom quality.

  • The second tranche of the Remuneración Íntegra Mensual takes effect this month, lifting the salary floor to S/3,500 for more than 426,000 basic and técnico-productiva teachers.
  • Law No. 32498 enables roughly 1,000 pedagogical higher-education faculty to move into career categories II and III with monthly pay of S/7,087 and S/8,774.
  • Over 11,000 teachers in technological institutes, arts schools and Defense-run centers receive category-based pay of S/4,083, S/4,758 and S/6,108.
  • Education Minister Jorge Figueroa says the measures aim to improve teachers’ quality of life to strengthen classroom teaching, a move welcomed by the sector.
  • The ministry presents the package as part of a broader teacher revaluation effort with implementation coordinated nationwide.
