Overview
- President Keiko Fujimori signed a supreme decree on Monday, September 28, 2026, authorizing a first tranche of S/100 that raises the Remuneración Mínima Vital from S/1,130 to S/1,230 effective October 1.
- The MEF will deliver a one-time transitory subsidy of S/100 to qualifying microenterprises with 2–10 workers in October so firms can absorb the initial rise before payroll reflects the change in November.
- The government estimates the first tranche and the subsidy will directly affect about 300,000 workers and roughly 144,000 small firms.
- A second tranche of S/70 to reach S/1,300 is planned for the first half of 2027 but remains conditional on the evolution of the El Niño weather event and requires a new supreme decree to be enacted.
- Officials and labour representatives say the phased move follows technical studies and CNTPE consensus designed to protect wages against roughly 4% inflation and to reduce risks to formal employment and small-business costs.
