Overview
- Decreto Supremo N.° 001-2026-MTC, published in El Peruano, replaces the previous flat 30-point credit with a modality-based reduction.
- Passing the road-safety course now removes 40 points for the virtual format or 50 points for in-person sessions, without generating a positive balance if the driver has fewer points.
- The MTC must adapt SLCP platforms and update the course directive within five calendar days to implement the reform.
- For 45 working days from entry into force, drivers with 100–149 points and no active suspension or cancellation may take the course to lower their score.
- The discount is void if a new sanction is issued before it is recorded, and SLCP suspension and cancellation thresholds continue to apply.
