Overview
- Decreto Supremo N° 018-2025-DE, published in El Peruano, updates the Service Military regulation and requires citizens to register in the Registro Militar from age 17 and before turning 18 or be classified as “omiso.”
- Non-registrants must regularize by paying a fine equal to 5% of the current UIT, which media report as about S/275, with payment made at Banco de la Nación to the account of the corresponding Armed Forces branch.
- Those who complete the Servicio Militar Acuartelado within the legal timeframe are exempt from the fine, and applicants who are “omisos” are not required to present prior proof of registration when they report for service.
- Registration is free and can be completed online via the Defense sector’s platform or in person at Army, Navy, or Air Force registry offices with a DNI.
- The reform expands non-certifying technical orientation training for licenciados in transport sectors coordinated with the MTC and authorizes the Executive to extend training periods for Reservas for national security reasons.
