• Colombia insists Santa Rosa and other newly formed Amazon islets were never assigned to Peru under the 1929 agreement and refuses to recognize Peruvian authorities on the island.
• Peruvian Prime Minister Eduardo Arana announced a diplomatic protest over a Colombian A-29 Supertucano flight around Santa Rosa that he says violated Peruvian airspace and reaffirmed Lima’s sovereignty claim.
