Peru Issues Decree for One-Time S/400 2026 School Bonus, Sets January Payouts

Public entities will fund the benefit from their own budgets, with local disbursements tied to available current revenue.

Overview

  • Supreme Decree 002-2026-EF, published in El Peruano, formalizes the S/400 school bonus for public-sector workers and state pensioners as a one-time payment.
  • Most beneficiaries will receive the bonus with the January payroll, with disbursements scheduled by institution on Jan. 21, 22, 23 and 26, while contracted teachers and education auxiliaries are paid in June.
  • Eligible groups include appointed and contracted civil servants, university faculty, health personnel, public laborers, Armed Forces and National Police staff, and pensioners under specified regimes, provided they are active or on paid leave and have at least three months’ service or receive a proportional amount.
  • The bonus is non-remunerative, exempt from social-security and pension deductions, does not form the basis for other benefits, and must be paid by only one public entity per person.
  • For pensioners, survivorship cases receive the full amount if there is a single beneficiary or a proportional share if there are several, with registration in the AIRHSP required; there is no official online lookup, and beneficiaries verify the payment via their payroll.
